- 17.25 in. Digital Brake Drum Caliper

(Zero Adjustment Nut) - Used to adjust the jaw spacing. A wrench and standard are supplied with the instrument to accomplish this. (See “Adjusting the Zero Position” section.)

(Millimeter/Inch Button) - Pressing this button sets the digital display to read in inches (US) or millimeters (Metric).

(Caliper Locking Thumbscrew) - Tightening this will prevent the caliper jaws from opening or closing.

(Liquid Crystal Display) - Displays the distance between the jaw tips in inches or millimeters.

(Serial Port Cover) – This plastic cover prevents dirt or contaminates from entering the LCD display and damaging the caliper’s electronics. Do not remove.

(Printed Scale) – This scale protects sensitive parts of the caliper electronics and must not be damaged. Do not expose this to water or ketones (solvents). Water will cause mis-reads and erratic display. Solvents will permanently damage the instrument. (Note: Clean brake fluid from the caliper immediately. Do not expose to high heat.)

(Battery Door Cover) – When removed, allows the battery to be changed. This door must remain installed for proper caliper operation. (See Replacing the Battery section.)

(Zero Button) – Pressing this button sets the LCD display to “zero”.

(Off/On Button) – Pressing this button turns the caliper on. Pressing it again will turn the caliper off. (Note: The instrument does not have an “auto off” feature. It will remain on until it is turned off by pressing this button. Turn the caliper off when not in use to conserve battery life.)

(Rim Depth Support Bars) – These bars can be positioned up or down to add support to the instrument when measuring. They rest on the rim of the brake drum keeping the caliper jaws parallel and stable. Two are provided. One on each jaw.

(Jaw Tips) – These tips are the part of the instrument that makes contact with the brake drum. Care must be taken to protect them from abrasion (rubbing the drum surface) and impacts (bending the tips). They are not replaceable.
